Speed is one of the youngest competitors on the international racing circuit. He’s courageous and skillful with plenty of natural talent and quick reflexes. He also happens to have impeccable morals. Speed does what’s right – even if it means losing or putting himself at risk. Speed’s car, the Mach 5, is a technical marvel and the most complex and ingenious car ever built. Inspired by my desire, at age four, to race home everyday from school to watch Speed Racer, this piece was a gift to my son, who also used to race home to watch. Go Speed Racer Go!
This piece was included in An International Juried Exhibition of Mosaic Art, presented by the Society of American Mosaic Artists held in conjunction with their 5th Annual Conference in Chicago, Illinois in 2006.
